    Which provider will allow me to sms to the UK or SOuth Africa

    Try T.Mobile, they have T.Mobile network in UK as well. Not sure if South Africa have T.Mobile network. SMS is very popular around the world...

    England and France

    Try Orange network. Its one of the cheapest as well when receiving incoming calls whilst in France.
