ive yet to see a wireless carrier run faster. DSL and some Cable still are the speed freaks.

ive never used traditional CDMA (non GSM) but i do believe from what i have heard people say is that different companies use different firmwares...
goto an alltel "authorized agent" and see if they will help you flash it IMO.

yea i love my aircard! money well spent... i see 1.5MB often...my 3G devices average around 700-800kbits...3G is very nice!
