This is a failry new (wasn't there last year) tower. It is a Pirod (manufacturer). I couldn't get a better picture from the balcony of my beach house. It sits behind a Currituck County public works site just off of Rt. 12 in Ocean Sands/Corolla on the Outer Banks.

Is that north or south of the Food Lion? I stayed a little bit south of the Food Lion in Nov. '04.

It is just south of Food Lion, on the Sound side.

Which Food Lion??? LOL. There's lots of Food Lions out here, they're pretty much the only markets out here, except for the brand new Harris Teeter, its at mile post 17 I think. We are staying at MP 20.5.

The Northernmost Food Lion...is that Corolla? A few more miles north of that the paved road ends.

That's right. I assumed the original Food Dog (Lion) reference was to the one just past Crown Point. The tower is about .75 miles past the new Harris Teeter at The Currituck Club. It is behind a municipal/county building (fire?) on the sound side.

We haven't been to Corolla yet. The more I think about it I should have taken pictures of the tower all the way at the tip of Hatteras island. It would have been easy from the ferry, otherwise it is miles into 4wd only trails. I didn't take my truck on this trip, so we don't have a 4wd with us.

ps- Food Dog... I thought only my sister's kids called it Food Dog.
