      That site seems to sit far above the average terrain. I'm sure this spreads the signal quite far. Interesting to see both carriers use Omnis, I guess capacity must not be an issue.

      The IMTS channels were the first full duplex mobile telephone system operational in this area. I'm not sure when it was installed but I think it was in the late 70's or early 80's. I do not belive that there are any paying customers using the system anymore.

      This site was also the first site to bring AMPS to this area. As is somewhat common out here, you will find cell sites located on high natural elevation or tall towers in the middle of not much population. These sites were designed to cover a large area for analog mobiles. Now, there are many other CDMA sites that have been constructed to provide better coverage along corridors and population. Both Verizon and Alltel run one CDMA controler at this site.
