Can anybody help me with who's on this tower? For sure Sprint, Dobson, Nextel, T-Mobile and AT&T are on it. The mystery would be the sixth one. It's either Alltel or Verizon, but I'm more inclined to say Alltel because Verizon has two towers not far from this site. I just need to know the order . . . . what I have listed is a guess.

The top looks empty. Could that have previously been Dobson, bought by AT&T?
    • cellular_freak
Really? How can you tell that it's empty? There's another tower that has a similar looking panel on it north of Saginaw that I have posted on here. I thought it belonged to Sprint. You could be right though, it may be empty. Because AT&T did buy Dobson out, I just would have figured that they would've removed the panels.

Correct, the very top sector is empty.
    • cellular_freak
Okay. That's good to know. Do you think it was a Dobson panel? And if so, why wouldn't they take it off?
    • spleck
Those vertical bars are just for the mounting brackets. It seems unusual to abandon the top location. If AT&T acquired Dobson in that area, maybe their panels were significantly better. Perhaps the co-lo lease costs are higher for that spot, or would have required renewing or renegotiating the lease.

Well, AT&T is the better carrier in that area. They cover the county pretty well. The Dobson site was the only Dobson site in the entire county. (It was a license saver, I believe.) I believe that AT&T's panels would be the bottom set on this tower, or the ones above them, but I'm not an expert on that. Also, I don't know how co-lo leasing works but this is in a major city.

Also, how I mentioned about another site near here that has similar panels, could you check that tower out, I have it posted on here. It's on the second page of the Michigan sites, third row down, and all the way to the right.

The panels vary so much from region to region, I automatically go for the power meters. I also prefer to find single occupancy towers in the area to profile the panels. In some areas, for example Sprint always uses 2 panels per sector, etc. The problems come when carriers get bought out, or the carrier changes manufacturer's for their panels.

Dobson is still on that tower, but from the angle of picture its hard to tell what is what.

Dobson looks like the 4th up from the bottom, no Dobson sites have been removed.

At&t uses alot of TMA's so if you can get a better look at the tower look for a 12" x 8" approx box normally near the panels.

Okay, I was kinda thinking that one was a Dobson site to begin with because the one in my hometown looks kinda like that.

So, if no Dobson panel has been removed, can you tell who the top panel is? Or is that one 100% empty?
    • Yankees368
The top set is 100% empty. There is no carrier there what so ever.
    • cellular_freak
Okay. Can you tell who may have been on there as well as help me out with the rest of the panels? I obviously know where the Dobson site is now, and I think I can tell where the Nextel and AT&T sites are.

This site kinda helped me out to see who was on here, but this may help you guys out much more. Some pics are older, because some are missing some panels that were added. Here's the link: http://www.americantower.com/OASISP...gSiteID=8166&lngTowerID=&lngProjectSubTypeId=
