One of the original AMPS sites, which today has AMPS/TDMA/CDMA signals.
They're taking "vegetative screening" to new heights.
Haha yes, it is actually quite difficult to see this site from the main road if you're in a car, so I guess it does its purpose fairly well! This photo was taken right across the road from the site, and as u can see the trees block the view if you happen to be further down the road in either direction.
Close-Up of Antennas. Standard AMPS/TDMA/CDMA 800MHz panels.
Close-Up of the Base Station. It's a standard Telecom shelter. See this one, you've seen them all! This is another way to identify the network, as Telecom and Vodafone each have their own style.
I've never seen anything like it in person. I did come across a web site recently that has a bunch of NZ cell site photos posted. I can't find it now. You familiar with it? It has an interesting picture of a water tank painted like a beer can.
Yes, thats www.nzcellsites.com, and I did that website. It's tempoarly down for now as I'm doing an upgrade. The site you refer to is Christchurch Airport I think.
That's probably why I had trouble accessing it again .
Nice photos! I'd recommend it to all the folks who like the cell site pictures.
Yup, not working for me either.
Firefox behaves as though it wants to download the page and not actually open it.
The equipment shelter is quite different from what you see here in the States. Thanks for sharing this one, Kiwi!
