      Cool picture SG.

It looks like it is going to rain in that picture since it is extremely overcast.

Or it might be my eyes.

I think it looks like it it going to rain as well.

I think Ryan's trying to increase his post # :D.

Shoresguy, Have you noticed a lot of new UMTS only sites go up since German networks started building out UMTS?
Haven't they converted most sites to do UMTS as well instead of adding extra sites?
    • ShoresGuy
Not really. Most sites are co-shared meaning that Vodafone, E-Plus and O2 add 3G/UMTS antennas to existing GSM 900/1800 or GSM 1800 sites instead of applying for a new site license through the RegTP. T-Mobile tends to add separate UMTS 2100 sites here in Cologne but they also have some co-shared locations.

Senderliste.de has a great listing of all cell tower sites in Germany and in other European countries:

I've used Senderliste a lot. It's a great site. I have never, though, been able to find a listing of cellsites in Ulm and surroundings. I guess there's nobody really out there that's crazy enough about cellsites to post them online :)
    • ShoresGuy
That's true I'm amazed that no one has really made the effort to cover BW and its major cities a lot better. The E-Plus nationwide listing includes Ulm but the Cell tower IDs are rarely known since no one has run CellTrack or any other cell site tracker to record that info in those areas.
    • Andy
I believe that in the old days of Viag Interkom, you could do Cell Broadcast on their network and get something like a Cell ID, then plug it in on their website, and it would show you the location of the cellsite serving you. Of course I could never really use this other than with my foreign sims, but it was awesome!
    • ShoresGuy
Sounds like a cool feature, Vodafone has also started broadcasting the cell tower ids when you activate Cell Broadcast. It comes with DXB20 or 201 for example. I then compare the Cell ID to Wolfgang Duven's D2 Excel chart. He lists the same IDs being broadcast by the network.
    • Andy
Oh that's good. But if you live in an area like Ulm, then there's no way for you to figure out where the cell is since nobody has really posted that information. Maybe in the future they will do what VIAG INTERKOM did in their early days :)
    • ShoresGuy
Could well be :), I'm quite surprised that this hasn't been done already for Ulm.

Are all the antennas on the RHS, or are there some more on the LHS? LHS looks like there are separate GSM/UMTS antennas on the RHS and a GSM only on the LHS.
