This site is attached to the Cable Cars (Sky Safari) building. The line for this ride passes right under the panels.
Very Nice Picture!
Reminds of a Verizon site I saw at the San Francisco Airport, I came within 10 feet of the panels!
I remember when you posted that pic, excellent shot!
Wow this is a very unusual place for a cell site. It must be very tough to get leasing/approval for a site at a zoo.
Yeah, I was gonna say, why not on top of the building, and have other antennas pointed in other directions.
Or is that too high? What might the people density be at the zoo near this site,
couple thousand in the daytime and almost zero late at night?
Also, I wonder where they'd store the base station equipment at a site like this,
or the one I mentioned above (perhaps underground).
Perhaps there are more panels around the building on the other side.
I'm sure that very little-to-no signal goes behind where these things are pointed.
These two panels here only serve the Zoo as far as I can tell. Just behind this building is the 163 freeway and I would bet there panels on the backside. Hope this google link works.
Looking at the area from above on Google Maps & Google Earth, this appears to be in a good location,
with this set of panels covering most of the zoo. Also the building is about 100 feet higher in elevation
compared to the freeway below, a few hundred feet back, so I'm sure this location covers at least a mile's worth on 163.
