Nextel built this multi-carrier city monument about 7 years ago. It's just south of Interstate 10.
I noticed earlier today some scaffolding around this tower. I wonder if they're adding to it.
If you have an opportunity to snap a photo, please do. Let's watch to see how they play with this site!
Thanks for the update,
MONTCLAIR'S MYSTERY Tower is surrounded by scaffolding, making it look more like a missile silo than ever.
Actually, the scaffolding is up so that Sprint/Nextel can do some rehab on the tile-clad tower, which houses a cell phone repeater. The city logo will be replaced, lighting will be installed and palm trees will be trimmed, says City Engineer Mike Hudson.
Painting will be needed, too. Vandals have taken advantage of the scaffolding to tag the upper reaches of the 40-foot tower. Oops.
That marring aside, it's nice to know that while one of my Seven Wonders of the Inland Valley, Rancho Cucamonga's silver stop sign, is gone, another Wonder is getting a beauty treatment.
Once again proving... Larry knows all, and sees all!
I was hoping they were going to add CDMA to this one but it appears that they're not.
