Another old AT&T tower. This one in Downtown Spartanburg. The property is owned by BellSouth (now AT&T). It's visible along parts of US-29 between the Westgate Mall & Hillcrest Shopping Center

      This tower is in an urban part of Spartanburg, I wonder why the panels are up so high....

      They used so much metal on this tower's structure. It's a very old tower. Time for something new!

      I can't think of a reason to need a tower that's blast proof here in SC other than an potential earthquake
      (SC has some historic earthquakes, like Charleston in 1886).

      But it's cool that its there.

      The blast proof rating really had nothing to do with the location, as all points in the network met a minimum standard. Facilities that passed more critical traffic, or were regional hubs were typically hardened to even stronger requirements.
