      It's filling a huge coverage hole for Cingular! The entire town of 8200 people has been dead forever.

      Cingular needs Davidson College to compete with Verizon and Alltel

      Mostly Verizon. Alltel doesn't have much traction at the college. Coverage is (slightly) inferior to VZW's and, because most students come from outside Alltel areas, they're unlikely to have an Alltel line coming in or switch to Alltel, a company they've never heard of.
