Larry - do you have a picture of the cabinets?

While Sprint isn't known for using many TMA's, in some area's the engineers deploy what's called a cell extender, which both increases the forward power (using a ground mounted amplifier) and amplifies the reverse link (using TMA's) in an attempt to increase the coverage pattern of the site.

You won't typically see these in metro area's unless it's a site that is covering a large residential area and they can't build a site in the middle.

There were no cabinets to take a picture of! I looked everywhere and only saw a small metal lift up door on a sidewalk area labeled Sprint (must be underground?). It was real far from the where the panels are mounted. Could they have needed amplifiers due to the signal loss of running such a long cable extension to get to the site?

When Sprint was evaluating this site as a potential candidate, they conducted a field drive test from the parking lot of the adjacent park. I have photos of their drive test van and rover on at www.cellularpcs.com/gallery (search for drive test). I was the City of Redondo Beach's reviewer for this project (big surprise).
