This speaks well for building big given the opportunity.

Can you get some picture of the compound where all these are located at? That would be something to see. Also are two of the arrays belong to one carrier? I see six levels and only five carriers.

Right. Top most part of the monopole is unused and has always been unoccupied. Metricom is where the VoiceStream/T-Mobile antenna are. I could have taken a picture of the base of site but it would have been facing the sun. Futhermore most of the base was wraped in a wooden fence and that which one could see through had man cars piled in front of it. The base is nothing spectacular. There is a cell site in Roanoke which is pretty cool. All of the sites are stacked up ontop of each other vertically. I'll have to get a better picture of that when I go back.

so the antenna or whatever it is on the top of the polie is not a carrier? i dont understand, then which one is t mobile, the first one under the useless antenna?
    • chuikov
Yeah, the top is just an empty mounting platform. A tower company probably built this for a carrier - maybe T-Mobile - who wanted the site. The tower company built bigger than was necessary in anticipation of other tenants coming along. The others did come along, but apparently none of them needed the extra height - so the tower is full, but the top remains empty.
