      Is this a steel monopole or a wood-laminate? Is that a coax conduit going up the outside of the pole?

      I'm assuming those are amplifiers just below the antennas.

      This looks like a very unorthodox tower.

      This picture isn't at good angle. It's actually a wood/composite looking pole and the coax goes into the pole a few feet down. It's similar to some T-Mobile and 1 Nextel site that I've found. It is odd.

      Are ampifiers common for 1800MHz sites in this area? Here they are only used for 2100MHz sites.

      We use 1900Mhz here in the States(we have to be different...800/1900Mhz), and many do have amplifiers. Especially Cingular, most all their newer 1900 sites have 'em.
