Wow, that is one tall tower! Especially for only one carrier.

      Why so tall?
Is cellular the only thing at the top?

It is in rural Northeast Nebraska. The closest alltel tower to the east is 25 miles in Hooper, north is 20 miles in Pilger , west is 25 miles in Humphrey and south is 19 miles in Schuyler. Most cell towers were I grew up are around 280 to 450 feet tall.

The only carrier is at the top. About three miles to the northwest is a this 450 foot tower with only 1 carrier on it. It is pretty common for each carrier to build their own tower out there.

Does capacity ever become a problem with people from miles around all using the same tower or is it rural enough so that it isn't an issue?

I never see sites nearly this tall except if there is a radio tower with a carrier on it and even then they usually don't mount above 150' or so.

Before it was sectored, there was many compliants from people in my town, and we were about 2 miles away. They tried to have people sign a petition for Alltel to do something about it. They sectored it about two years later.

Now that is sectored, it seems to be better from what people tell me. I have US cellular for the last 2 and 1/2 years so I have no idea what their service is like.

I'm in Ontario it's pretty common in my area too and else-where that the carriers build their own towers too. Not too often I see a tower with more then one carrier on it, unless they're closer to the bigger cities. They're usually fairly tall too.
