Conway Summit, Mono County

Located between Bridgeport & Lee Vining atop Conway Summit, In Mono County, CA just north of Mono Lake. Alltel and Verizon are up there, and the signal covers Northern Mono County, and reaches out more than 25 miles into the desert. I got Alltel signal at Mono Lake and along Hwy 167 into Nevada.

I worked on that tower quite a few times. The big one w/ the microwave antennas belongs to SCE (Southern CA. Edison). Alltel rents tower & bldg space from there. The little tower just to the left of the big one is the Alltel tower w/ the AMPS/TDMA/GSM/CDMA antennas on it. It also has a m/w shot going to Rainbow Mt. - A.K.A. June Lake ski resort

      Cool thanks for this info!

The Alltel signal from here does cover Bridgeport, Lee Vining & Mono Lake,
although there are some places on US-395 between Lee Vining & Bridgeport
where the signal would cut in and out, like around the winding parts of the road,
south of Bridgeport. And even 1 mile SE of the summit where 395 rapidly loses over 1,000 feet in elevation,
and winds down a large hill with a huge cliff next to it (the cliff along the road would block the signal)
But overall the Alltel signal was good in Lee Vining & Bridgeport (-085 Rx power in both cities & Mono Lake South Tufa area).

Also there is still analog Alltel here as of right now, not sure if this'll be shutoff soon.
Alot of area between Sonora Pass (Hwy 108) and US-395 north of Bridgeport was analog only.

I really want to go back to Mono Lake soon.
I wouldn't have went there in the first place if my plane didn't fly over it!
