What I don't get is why the City permitted the GPS on the outside of the site. It ruins it. jlk

PS: Remind me sometime and I'll upload a photo of a GPS antenna installed (AND WORKING) in an underground vault! jlk

I agree Jonathan. It's a nice stealth design with a GPS tacked on in the most conspicuous location. We put one inside the attick of an old church once, and it picked up signal through the thick wood/shingle roof.

Maybe the tile roof of this design blocks the signal? Even if so, there could have been a better solution.

But do you guys really think the everyday person would notice this and realize that there are cellphone panels hidden inside???
    • chuikov
Probably not, but it seems odd to go to all the effort and expense to build this elaborate stealth just to tack on a GPS antenna as an afterthought.

By the way that GPS antenna was just recently installed for the CDMA equipment. It was never there before when the site was IDEN only.
