      Dang, That's some serious gear! Are they talking to Mars?

      Lol nope, they're used to broadcast RTL channels VOX, Super RTL and n-tv as well as TV Gusto to the ASTRA satellites in orbit. From there, the signal is reflected back to Earth and received by your dish mounted to your house or roof.

      This pic was taken with my MDA II's VGA camera btw.

      Pretty cool. Is that for satellite only, or does this feed cable companies too? I haven't had a dish since I sold the double-wide down in West Virginia. :wink:

      I believe both since what happens in Germany is that Deutsche Telekom stills owns the majority of the German cable and fiber optic network infrastructure so they have receiver sites which catch the satellite signal and transmit it to cable companies using the DT cable/fiber optic network.

      Yep, it's due to the technology needed to put TV programming on air.
