Why does Cablevision need such a large tower? What is it used for?

It's been there for ages. I guess its for microwave communications. Many companies use this tower, including the police, to relay signals all over NJ. My job is interested in renting space there too.

This is a good shot, makes you feel a little dizzy.
I remember when 287 opened & using this as a landmark when towing cars & trucks from north jersey or new york state.

I guess thats why they charge so much for TV, they have to maintain a 4 billion foot tower!

So this is the one that gives you blue and vz coverage at home (or is it work?). Has blue still been randomly dropping calls for ya?

This is the tower that gives me a signal at work. Everytime I see someone using their phone inside the building I know they are using either Cingular or Verizon. Everyone else has to go outside to make calls. :D

Blue's behaving better.... slowly improving those pocket areas where calls fail to handoff even though signal is strong. There are some days where inexplicably starts acting weird, but then the next day it is fine again. The only issue that still bothers me is the AMR Half Rate audio dropouts. I've reported this issue so many times it is sickening already.
