Will wireless companies hire us? In this day in age, many of us have used customer service from one or another company which provides online customer service. Lexar, among my most recent, uses a chat type of online live customer service 24 hours a day.
To cut to the point, If i was a recruiter for Verizon
, I would recruit from here, should Verizon
plan to offer such a service. One thing is for sure, any of us can type faster and multitask with much ease compared to the chick from lexar, whom I have spoken with of recent.
Mabey those of us who spend much time with this site should even get paid for this type of thing!
Just my 2 17 year old pennies.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? I think many of us have thought about this. I know someone even had in thier signature at one point something like "I should get paid for this!"

I agree with you that some on here know so much that thier knowledge is worth a lot of money, but I think it is people like this that enjoy helping out of the goodness of thier hearts and wouldn't think of getting paid for it. I know this is my philosophy!

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? It's just a hobby for me, and I agree it would take some of the fun out of it if this became my job. I can't begin to say how much people here have given me alot of great knowlege & i find it fun to help others as well as learn stuff on my own schedule.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? I read an article in InfoWorld magazine ( http://www.infoworld.com/article/05/...rategic_1.html ) last week about open source documentation. Basically, the writer was commenting on how we can usually get better help from our fellow-users for software and devices than from the manufacturer.
Don't count on getting paid to do something like this because we already do it for free.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? Isn't that the truth! I know some of the users here would be great as CS people for a provider, but I think most of them would rather do it on the side than as a full time job. I know that is my feeling on it.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? I'm with you.....I think it would drive me crazy if I did it full time...5 days a week...40+ hours a week. I'd love to do it part time....on the side...maybe 15-20 hours per week.....I think that would be cool.

sometimes I get myself into trouble here also.
I think it is just the opposite for people who work in the industry.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? I wouldn't want to do wireless CS ever. Sure, I could probably be helpful since I have some intelligence and can learn, but working with people over the phone who are stupid would really get on my nerves.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? I know some people seem stupid, but the majority of them are just unknowledgeable of the products. That is where we come in to help others learn about how stuff works!

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? Exactly the reason that many of them turn to us here for insight on issues that they can't get help from the carrier.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? Oh, there are some of us who don't leave it at the office, however, I'll stay in engineering any day of the week. I wouldn't deal with customers for anything, maybe because I AM a customer too.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? Besides, part of our economic system is based on volunteers. The whole world would probably collapse if we closed WA and some of us went to work for the wireless companies.

Re: Will wireless companies hire us? Think about it: You get free help from other users on message boards like this or off the Internet (thanks, Google). Software companies give out free patches because their programmers couldn't get it right the first time (trust me, those things are NOT built into the cost of producing the software). You get free e-mail service from Yahoo!, Gmail, Hotmail, etc. Sure, advertisers pay, but I'm not giving anything for it. Just think of the donations people give out every day, especially for something like the tsunami.
