QUALCOMM Announces Agreement for uiOne, a Key Component of the BREW® Solution, with Alltel

Alltel First Operator to Select uiOne for Customized User Interface Support

SAN DIEGO — May 05, 2005 — QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced an agreement for customized user interface (UI) support based on QUALCOMM's uiOne product with Alltel (NYSE: AT), a customer-focused communications company with more than 8 million wireless customers. The uiOne offering consists of an open and flexible combination of products and services to help develop and deploy user interfaces, enabling Alltel to further differentiate its Axcess wireless data service offering, promote specific brands and mobile applications and create new wireless data revenue opportunities.

Custom UIs allow mobile subscribers to personalize their mobile phones beyond ringtones and traditional applications, enabling them to select from a variety of styles, themes and graphics to create a rich and compelling user experience that is truly meaningful to them. These feature-rich user interfaces developed with uiOne can be delivered over the air, enabling Alltel to provide UI updates, UI themes and UI creation, creating a dynamic, timely and relevant service for subscribers.

"This agreement demonstrates Alltel's continued commitment to offer the most enhanced, personalized wireless products and services to its customers," said Peggy Johnson, president for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "uiOne builds on the BREW solution's demonstrated technical capabilities and provides comprehensive UI support enabling Alltel to easily develop and deploy an advanced user experience that remains simple and intuitive."

The uiOne offering is comprised of a suite of products and services, including:

uiOne Toolkit - enables rapid development of rich and dynamic UIs.

uiOne SDK (software development kit) - includes a focused PC-based set of UI authoring tools to create a customized UI.

uiOne Applications, Resources and Templates (ART) - provides a library of UI application resources and design templates for use by device manufacturers and operators.

uiOne Delivery System - allows wireless users to purchase and download custom UIs.

Professional Services - to assist operators in getting to market.

QUALCOMM's BREW solution is designed to meet the distinct and varied needs of wireless operators, handset manufacturers, publishers, developers and end users around the world. BREW products and services include: an open, extensible client platform that supports robust system and application software including personalized and branded user interfaces for mass market devices; a J2EE™ -based, modular delivery system that enables the distribution of content, applications and user interfaces to wireless devices across all air interfaces; a dedicated professional services team that supports the integration of customized implementations; and the wireless industry's first global marketplace to support the monetization of applications and services developed in all programming languages. The BREW solution can make the wireless visions of innovative companies a reality.
