Third Annual `Wireless Safety Month' May 2, 2005 | 10:48 AM SouthernLINC Wireless announced today that the entire month of May would be designated as "Wireless Safety Month." The third annual occasion will be marked with important safety tips for wireless users. "Mobile phones play a critical role in making our day-to-day lives safer," said Bob Dawson, president and CEO of SouthernLINC Wireless. "Wireless Safety Month focuses attention on the key issue of public safety. Whether you're driving around the corner or across the state, it's important to remember to use wireless phones safely." SouthernLINC Wireless will promote safety by sharing safety tips with the public, and reminding employees to continue to use wireless phones responsibly. Following are some of the tips SouthernLINC Wireless will be offering: — Keep both hands on the steering wheel. Use a hands-free device that allows you to use your wireless service without holding the phone to your ear. — Try to make all your calls before you head out on the road, but if you must dial out, remember to take advantage of features such as voice activated dialing and speakerphone. — Keep your phone within easy reach in the car, out of your purse or glove compartment. If your phone rings and you are unable to safely take the call, let it go to voice mail. — Be aware of potential safety hazards. Use your phone to report serious emergencies on the road as well as reckless, aggressive or drunken drivers. Dialing 9-1-1 is a free call from most wireless phones. The entire list of wireless safety tips are posted on the company's Web site at http://www.southernlinc.com.
