According to a new email blast AT&T is currently in the midst of sending out, the company has been hard at work in 2008 and through Q1 2009 improving its service in the New York metro area. In fact according to the email, the carrier added 75 new cell sites across New Jersey, New York and Long Island during the 15-month period. Specifically, AT&T lists the following areas as key improvements in 2008:
__________________ Started with PacTel Cellular (1994) which became AIRTOUCH (1994-2000) which became verizonwireless (2000-present). Back with -T- Mobile (2004-2009, 2009-present) |

I'll ask him how he likes his service, and if it has improved recently. Rossmoor is right behind the NJ Turnpike just west of Jamesburg, I plan to visit him next month, My phone gets a great Verizon & good Sprint signal at his home from a tower near NJTP Exit 8A

Many of those new installs are in areas known to be dead or near dead spots for AT&T. Now if they could make some improvements in Newark that would be great. What I did notice today is an improvement in 3G speeds in the area overall after a couple of months of lower than usual speeds. Also it looks like they finally fixed the "no data" issue along the GS Parkway between exits 149 and 152. It's good to know they're working on it.
