Has anyone heard the new markets that Verizon is going to launch ev-do in for 2005? It hasn't come to Raleigh and a couple other cities I travel to yet. |

Some of those were added Feb 1, 2005. As for anything in the future, I don't know.

My roomates uses 1XRTT to download photos he takes to the newspaper server He said that a couple of arenas in Salt Lake had an EV-DO pico cell on cellular (850) ready just for them. He was told that once the Qwest deal was complete in about a month after they should have EV-DO for anyone to use it where Qwest had a network. sounds like the Qwest deal will close around early March, so going by that in April or May we should see EV-DO in Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, Denver, Omaha, Boise markets. remember this is a guess not anything into stone. |

Agent, are you saying that parts of S.L. already have Ev-Do? I can't wait for the Qwest deal to close and hopefully gain additional voice coverage also.

Thanks for the info. From my observations, the Delta Center must have an indoor-cellsite. I get very strong readings in the basement(employee area), where Sprint and CricKet are all very weak/unusable or have no service. Cingular also seems to have a site inside the delta center btw.

Wasn't the old rule it is up in the airport before it is up in the city?

I think the service in Columbus is pretty new. I've only been bombarded with the annoying "broadband in a taxi with your VZW PC card" ads for about 4 weeks now.

The Delta Center is the only public place I've 'seen' repeaters inside a building so far in Salt Lake. The E Center in West Valley might also have a VZW repeater inside, didn't confirm this yet though. Interesting thing is that calls originated on Verizon's Delta Center system show up as "Ogden, UT" on the detailed call list on my bill...why would this be?

I live in Knoxville, TN where Verizon has no PCS spectrum and Cingular/AT&T is camping on 60Mhz... We won't be seeing EV-DO here on Verizon for awhile, at least until Cingular is forced to divest some of their spectrum.

Hey Crew! I live on the east benches near Big Cottonwood Canyon, and I just recieved my EVDO Phone (e815) For Verizon, I use the dial-up through bluetooth, and on my 3rd connection, I was downloading as a constant 417Kbps!! It was a one time shot, I don't know how it happened, but wow, it was magic! Anyone know how this might have happened? It was a file download, and I did not have any web accelerators going. Please advise!

If you are not in an evdo area, then that connection speed was most likely the speed between your phone and the pc, not your phone and the network/internet.
