My two iPhones were pretty flawless, but I upgraded anyway. Sped up the contacts scroll. Went very smoothly, didn't lose any data, since it doesn't erase your previous settings. |

Images: 38 | Yeah, the updates went pretty flawlessly for my friend and I as well. We both needed the updates as both of our phones were pretty glitchy and we've had a number of problems. It seems that some of the issues have been resolved, but others are still to be fixed.

I got my black 16GB iPhone today, right when I got home I upgraded my firmware to 2.0.1, and it went flawlessly. This phone is amazing.

| I am waiting on the unlocker so I could use the darn thing while on my 3 month business trip. I for sure not planing to use its data roaming as I heard way too many stories and AT&T int'l roaming data option seems to be limited to the listed countries and the rest the included data will not work so $$$$ for the poor sole that do not understand the T&Cs.

Out of curiousity, I used field test to check signal strength around my house before and after the update. No 3G around here, but I am seeing 3 to 5 dBm improvement in signal strength for GSM. I have full bars here, so I haven't noticed a difference in the normal bar indicator. I'll see tomorrow around town if there really is any improvement, or just the difference between 11pm and midnight. | |

So far it has been over 24 hours and lots of use and the battery indicator is almost down to a third. So for some reason I think the new release is hanging better on the network and not causing battery drain. My use is with Wifi, 3G and BT on with lots of emails and talking. Today it held without dropping a call in a mall (Dulles mall) where before it was not easy to have a good signal even on regular and 3G was almost non existent. Today 3G was at 4 plus bars and and no drooped calls when it switched to EDGE. So this is good news so far with the update.

Images: 8 | I do like it. But earlier tonight I tried upgrading my iPod Touch firmware and it's a brick now. YIKES! I was afraid to plug my iPhone back into my computer because I thought the same thing would happen to my iPhone! But I tried it anyway, and it worked out perfect. But now I have to go through the hassle of sending my iPod Touch to Apple. But my lesson is learned. Tommorow I'm getting the Apple Care package for my iPhone 3G (after I get back from Mackinaw Island

| I can see unlocking, but not too interested in jailbreaking. Most jailbreakers wind up on hard times in life and back in prison eventually. I think the jailbroken iPhones, after the firmware upgrade wound up unbroken again. Seriously what is the interest in a jailbroke phone (versus an unlocked phone). Seems to me that one risks really getting out of line with apple's software protocols and a buggy phone. With no warranty. |

With all the draconian drama following the 3G iPhone, I think I'll stay put with 1.1.4 unlocked for a while. It works quite well with no buggy issue (that I've experienced). So far, so good.
