That's great news for Sprint users! Seems like, in some areas, Sprint will be expanding more and more into rural areas. How come Sprint does things like this through partnerships with other companies?

Yes that is good news for people that only have one carrier to choose from in certain areas.....but it is too bad that Sprint didn't improve existing coverage in areas that aren't too good....like my neighborhood and house.....

Yeah.....but Verizon will improve coverage in my five county area this year according to an article I read in my local paper.

I know here in Union Cty NJ they have been adding alot of towers lately, which may help them add customers, since they have a real bad reputation in this area as well as parts of NJ.

I wouldn't pay for a sprint subscription for the very fact that coverage in Kansas is very poor. Like some of the other carriers, they don't consider that some of us don't stay on the interstates and major cities. In Kansas it seems most carriers are only interested in the basic triangle of the Kansas City metro west to Salina, South to Wichita and back up to the metro. The western half, the part north of I-70, the southern section are all ignored. I think carriers should start being honest and saying they are interstate-wide -- not nation-wide.

I remember one of my trips to SE SE Kansas. I had car problems. Its not SprintPCS territory (though there is lots of Sprint Local phone there). Anyway, I ended up with a big roaming bill.

Sure there is a plan where roaming is included. However, if you read the fine print, one half of your monthly USAGE (not allocation) must be on the Sprint network...

I had thought about buying an Alltel plan as it covers all but a handful of counties. Unfortunately, I'm in one of those counties where they don't own any frequencies. (Alltel is adding the Wichita area from the Cingular/ATW merger, but no such plans exist for NE Kansas.) Alltel does have a good roaming plan with Vz, but unfortunately when you move up to that, your number of peak minutes goes down quite a bit. Vz's plans in the area don't seem much better either.

Personally, I wish there was a company that had an affordable regional plan in this area. My ideal would be all of Kansas, NW Missouri covering KC Metro and St Joseph, SW Missouri (Joplin/Springfield); NW Oklahoma (Tulsa/Barttlesville); maybe Arkansas to like Eureka Springs; OK Panhandle/Tx Panhandle down to Amarillo/Canyon; maybe NW New Mexico for Raton; eastern Colorado (Colorado Springs/Pueblo). Alltel when it has WesternWireless will basically have that kind of foot print except they won't have NW Missouri; Tulsa/Barttlesville OK; Joplin, MO; nor Colorado Springs. Even if they did, I'm not sure whether they would create such a regional plan.

Anyway, I know for sure, I'll never buy a wireless plan with a company where you incurr a lot of roaming fees if you leave the cities or go off the broken path or a c

Sprint had been adding Towers lately in North Jersey too.

Why do some people think this is such as big deal? There hasn't been a record of Sprint actually enforcing this policy. It would be pretty hard for most users to use over 50% of their minutes off network on a regular basis. If they did they must not live and work in a Sprint native area. In which case Sprint would not be the right choice anyway.

Actually I remember Cingular & AT&T Wireless had/have this same policy & I haven't heard of anyone going over the 50% mark either. Is Sprint's like AWE's & Cingular's are? 3 Consecutive months of roaming? or is there's considered for a month?
