According to Macrumor.com AT&T is now allowing customers with iPhones use their WiFi access points at no additional charge. They posted a quote claiming to be from the AT&T website saying that AT&T's 17,000 WiFi access points are available to use for iPhone users, but when I went to verify this claim, the AT&T website doesn't have any information about this. False rumor? You be the judge. But if this is true, it would be great to have AT&T (for the first time) add a new service to a plan without charging extra. What do you think was the mistake? 1) Enabling WiFi for iPhone users temporarily? 2) Displaying that info on their website?

Well, they were both just honest mistakes, probably.

it is smart though to allow iPhone users access to the AT&T WiFi hotspots because iPhones hog the data on the towers and this is a way to spread out the load

I spoke with a friend of mine today about the current iPhone and he mentioned that the new 3G version is set to be released on Friday, June 27. He mentioned something about an Apple announcement on June 9th detailing the release. The date of the 3G iPhone release makes sense, and is what I thought it would be all along - exactly a year from the release of the first one (save 2 days because of Leap year). With all of the commotion on phone blog sites like Engadget and Boy Genius Report, it made sense that something was in the works, but Apple being as mysterious as they are, leave everyone hanging until the last minute. My friend is not sure about what changes have been made to the new version, but he did mention the existence of Black and White versions, which were recently outed on BJR and Engadget. Now whether this all pans out or not remains to be seen. I'm just passing along what he mentioned, which isn't really anything different from what many have expected. It just confirms what has been talked about recently. So we'll have to wait and see...

I'm assuming the color scheme has to do with the back of the device, considering that's the only major part with color. The black on the front is for the ear piece and "Home" button. In either case, I'm sure the new one will be nice.
