The chipset and software solution for dual-mode UMTS/EDGE multimedia mobile handsets enables seamless handovers between third-generation/UMTS and 2.5G/EDGE networks, said the company. The product delivers up to 384 kilobits per second downloads in 3G/UMTS coverage areas and up to 220 kbps in 2.5G/EDGE coverage areas, according to Agere. Sceptre HPU is 3GPP release 99-compliant. It supports 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz frequencies. http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=21194
