November 21, 2007 BERLIN -- Deutsche Telekom AG's mobile unit said Wednesday it would offer Apple's iPhone without a contract to comply with a court injunction, but consumers that opt out of a two-year contract will pay more than twice as much for it. T-Mobile will start selling the phone for 999 euros ($1,477) immediately as well as continuing to offer it for the discounted 399 euros ($590) in combination with a two-year contract, the company said in a press release. That's just too expensive. I can buy an iPhone here, pay someone to unlock it and then sell it in Germany and I'd still be making money!

| That's probably the point. They don't *want* to sell you an unlocked iPhone. If they can make it harder than a few more people will get service through them.

| none of it makes sense because the agreement between Apple and AT&T basically says we'll keep it exclusively for you if you promise not to subsidize it for contracts.......so T-Mobile Germany is overcharging.....bobolito has a very good point.......its like taking the nickel and melting it down and selling the metal for 18 cents........it could be a booming market of customers over there who will buy unlocked iPhones off of eBay instead of buying them from T-Mobile
