Default Girls call 911 in Bremerton 104 times

By The Associated Press
BREMERTON WA

— Bremerton police believe two girls — ages nine and eleven — are responsible for 104 prank calls to 911.

The calls from Saturday to Monday were either hang-ups or people using offensive language.

Police were able to trace a call Monday afternoon and found two girls sitting on a bench with a cell phone. It had 911 on its recent call list. The girls were turned over to their mothers.

Could they have been in a dead hole which only reults in an emergency call only and did not know it? Also could their bad language be as a result of anger as to why they are not geting service? Hopefully it is one of the above and not pure prank calling as to tie up the 911 is not a thing that shoul;dever be taken as a joke.

104 calls and the age puts that as the least likely scenario, keep in mind at that age kids still don't have a direct idea of consequences to their actions.

Whatever their mom is going to do to them will be ten times worse than what the law would do... those girls are in T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

Doubtful for the age of the girls. But I would assume there will be some strongarming them to scare them.

104 calls sounds a little too strange to me. Something is not being told in that story.

I just don't see how they got away with 108 calls considering modern e911 systems, and that's what I think bobolito is getting at. I recall it happened once around here, kid made 2 calls to 9/11 they found the school bus that he was traveling on and pulled it over and this is a small community. So yes this seems a bit fishy.

Quirks in this lovely E911 system just really ticked me off tonight.

Dispatch got a cell 911 call from a female who sounded intoxicated. I don't know if the female asked for help or not. Dispatch asked where she was....and she said she was at 820 Wilmington St. Well...we don't have a Wilmington St here. She said she was in a different town...and then cussed and said wait, I'm in___ _____ (my town).

I asked dispatch to look at the phase 2 maps and give me something to go on.....the map showed she was in our town...on Mazon St, south of Elm St. Well...everything south of Elm St, had a 1000+ address....there isn't even an 820 on Mazon St. I asked dispatch to tell me if the area showed was south of Des Plaines St, so I can start narrowing where the caller is....and dispatch said they had some other 911 calls come in, and that cleared the phase 2 maps. She was unable to retrieve the information from this call.

1. I blame the call centers for not getting a grip on this stuff....come on...you mean to tell me other calls clears the screen and you can't get it back? Something is wrong here.

2. The carriers also have blame in this not being perfected yet.

We never found her....we never found any problems on the entire street. How frustrating.

One thing that would help would be for cell companies to have a database they have to give to emergency call centers computer systems. That way, we could at least get a name. Even though the address on the account may not be where the caller is calling from, it could be, but if it isn't, we at least have a name. Dispatch said there was no name on the screen that popped up with the cell number.

As a officer of the law, you see firsthand how these things play out. Wow Dave, I can't imagine how frustrating this must have been.

It was! Bad! Then afterwards, I pulled out the maps I have in my car....that I made and put there, in case I have to leave our village and go to another surrounding one for assistance....and in the next village to the southwest....about 7 miles....I found a Wilmington St, and Elm St and a Mazon St. Our dispatchers should have known this. I typed a message to her on the computer with my findings. I don't think it dawned on her about these streets being in the other village too. I think she was going to send a county deputy there to check, but they were all busy for about 2 or 3 hours after the call, as a nearby motel was robbed and they had found the vehicle in the same village where these streets are. So I think they checked on it later, but I am not sure
