‘Progressive’ MVNO offers solar-powered cellphone charger Mobile virtual network operator Working Assets Wireless announced it will begin offering a solar-powered cellphone charger for free for a limited time. The company said the offering is part of its effort to help subscribers “connect to progressive causes.” "If we want to reverse the negative effects of global warming, we have to consider our daily actions as the first place to make changes," said Laura Scher, CEO of Working Assets. "By offering environmentally friendly products like the Solio, we give our members an easy way to reduce global warming through an everyday action—talking on their cellphones." Working Assets Wireless said the Solio charger accepts power from the sun or a wall socket. Normally a $100 retail value, the MVNO said it is offering the device for a limited time to new subscribers who purchase the company’s LG Electronics Co. Ltd. 150 flip phone. Working Assets Wireless offers service through the Sprint Nextel Corp.’s CDMA network. Hahah, wow, why don't they just stop using cell phones if they really want to help save the earth. The materials (plastics, etc), the electricity to run the network, the batteries in the phone....this is nothing but scheme to take money out of the pockets of people that don't know any better. LOL It's innovative alright, but the motive behind it is not.

Oh and thanks Mobile Mike...this might offend some people but.....although I know global warming could be a problem, its messengers upset me. Al gore for instance, besides his houses that we all know about, speech money, movie money, what about his investments into companies that provide carbon offsets and other environment related services that would directly benefit from global warming hysteria? It just makes me question his motives, is it money? Is it legitimate concern? Seems to me so far he's made a lot of money off it. Could be both I suppose, it all just bugs me......sorry for the rant, this is a cellular forum, and i think Fire14 posted another one that i got on my soapbox about too so I'm gonna stop...... Anyway I wonder how well this mvno will do, how many more does Sprint plan on piling on? They must have a lot of left over capacity......

I also wonder how many more MVNO's Sprint will take on. Geez, what is it now, like 1000?? As fast as they get their synergy sites up and running, there's a new MVNO popping up on their network...
