| http://losangeles.bizjournals.com/lo...ml?jst=b_ln_hl Poll: Phones are too small for the big screen Los Angeles Business from bizjournals - 12:17 PM PST Friday, February 16, 2007 Is it only a matter of time before you can watch the latest big-screen classic on your cell phone or PDA? It seems that way with many of the new broadband video offerings from wireless carriers. But is it a worthwhile venture? Maybe not, according to a majority of respondents in an informal Los Angeles Business poll. This week's poll question was "How likely are you to watch a video or movie on a mobile phone?" An overwhelming majority, 75 percent, said that they were not at all likely to watch a video or movie on their phone. The other responses pulled in the following: I will when it's free -- 16 percent I already do -- 6 percent No opinion -- 1 percent Here are some reader comments left on the poll: "Wireless devices and applications represent the wave of the future. Be on the lookout for mobile TV." "I don't want added features until they conquer the primary goal of a phone. I still can't keep and or make a call without losing it. Get that right first." "Good grief - no thanks....my eye care insurance wont cover glasses that thick." "The screen is small and after a while it becomes a hard to focus. Even the youngest eyes will, and can, have problems." "Phones are for communication." "I want my e-mail and phone on my big-screen TV, not the other way round."

I watch some Videos on my phone, but the clarity is no where near up to par where I'd want to watch a whole movie on it. Not to mention they'd have to drastically improve battery life for one to even consider doing that anyway... ~*Ash*~

10" screen of a portable DVD player is as low as I go. My preferred watching is on an 84" screen, that's a tad too much to have in a cell phone — rollable screen or not |

Well I tried and what many foregt is one has to keep holdig the phone for the lenfth of the movie and keep it close to see it and that gets tiring after a while. I gave up on it. LOL. I keep on uping my TV size and why would I want to go to such a small screen!

True. I find that my Video iPod has an impeccable quality for such a small device, but I still cant see myself watching a whole movie on it. ~*Ash*~

| If I sit my 6131 on the keyboard and pull it up close it's just the right angle where I could watch it without having to hold the phone. Of course the 6131 has such a superior battery life that it would be an exercise in futility anyway...

| yes they do but when one has already seen the movies that they have of which half of them are on no interest then one needs more to pass the time. Remember, I don't sleep while flying and I have no idea why I can't and as you already knwo a flying leg of 8 hours is not a short trip to endure with not much to do.

Can't read either while on the plane. The most I will carry with me is the laptop only, PDA, cell phone and a few papers that I need just in case my luggage gets lost some how. The rest are checked in. Actualy I dont' even take my DVD drive with me any where as I have one at each office location. the next thing I will propably do is put the movies on the Laptop and then remove them but I also don't want to carry the charger as it adds weight. LOL I am too lazy and the less I carry the better. But I can say that my 8GB iPod nano does serve me well for the trip with all my music collection on it. i realy want to do away with having to carry a laptop too. | |

I agree with the survey, I would not want to watch a video or even TV on the small screens, as well as what hfkhal1 said holding the phone for that long & having to deal with the battery issue as YourDream84 said.

| I have my gray Dell laptop and I was thinking about getting another one and leave overseas so I dont have to carry it. That is why I am very interested in havig a wifi enabled phone so if I go some where and when I don't need my laptop with me I could then connect with it without having to data Roam by using the phone. Many places I can get free wifi access at very good speeds.
