Cell phones are one of the last bastions of privacy, so many are upset that they will lose that soon too, I suppose it was inevitable, but the lack of privacy, identity theft and things like the patriot act are enough to make even the least worried individual take notice.

I can hardley wait; while lost somewhere in a roaming zone, I get a call asking me if I am interested in a chimney cleaning service. Of course, I would accept the offer, pay the LD and roaming charges and then probably be scammed by the chimney cleaner. Seriously, something will have to be done, since besides the privacy issues involved, we have to pay for the air time that is used during the call TO us.

Yeah. Even if my carrier offered unlimited incoming calls, I still wouldn't want TM's calling me all the time. I signed up for the National Do Not Call List http://www.donotcall.gov/ but still get calls all the time from TM's to my home phone. Sometimes I get 3 or 4am calls from east coast TM's since I'm on the west coast. Annoying.

Verizon chose not to participate in the directory, as for telemarketers I don't care what phone they call you on just tell them it's your cellular and please don't call it, they are not supposed to.

I too wouldn't want telemarketers calling my cell phone, since both ends of the conversation get charged airtime for the call.

The new rule that I put into effect with my phone is: If I don't recognize the number (which prob means they're not in my phonebook). Or if the number says Private, Unknown, or Unavailable. I don't pick it up. When that happens I always call VM to see if a message was left, 95% of the time there isn't one.
