Default Cingular Names Stan Sigman President & CEO

Sigman previously served as group president and chief operating officer for SBC and as a member of Cingular's board of directors.

"Stephen has done a terrific job establishing Cingular as one of the nation's leading wireless companies and managing the integration of multiple companies and identities into one of the most recognizable brands in the United States. I expect Stan will build on that to bolster Cingular's leadership position in all areas."

In his new position, Carter will serve as vice president of SBC, reporting to Ed Whitacre.
Cingular Wireless is the second largest wireless carrier in the U.S with 22.1 million subscribers and is a joint venture between SBC Communications (NYSE - SBC) and BellSouth (NYSE - BLS).

In his previous position, Sigman was responsible for SBC's wireline network operations, as well as its wholesale, data and Internet services business units. Sigman began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1965. Since then, he has served in a wide variety of assignments, including group president - SBC national operations in 1999 where he was responsible for all of SBC's domestic wireless operations. Sigman is past chairman of the board of directors of the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA).

Sigman will assume his position in Atlanta effective immediately.
