Dial ''M'' For Magic Kingdom By Kristy Bassuener September 19, 2002 news@2 direct Mickey Mouse creator Walt Disney Co. today announces mobile content deals with both Sprint PCS and AT&T Wireless, aimed at boosting revenue all around. AT&T Wireless has launched three subscription-based programs for its mMode mobile content service on its GPRS network. Only mMode customers with the Sony Ericsson T68i color-screen phone can access the services at the moment, but more phones with that capability will roll out in the near future, AT&T says. Costing $3.99 each per month, the programs include Disney's Magic Kingdom, offering game downloads and color graphics and Fun for Families with entertainment services and parenting tips from the company's television programming arm. City Lounge, aimed at a more young-adult to adult crowd, offers movie reviews, show times and film graphics from Disney's Miramax and Touchstone movie studios. Disney's ESPN sports network also will offer a program for $2.99 per month, including sports statistics, team news and scores. Sprint's latest Disney offerings will be available on its PCS Vision service, which uses CDMA2000 1x technology. Customers will have access to downloadable ringtones, animated graphics and screen savers for $1 to $2 each. Downloadable Java-based games will cost $3 to $4 each. ESPN-based content on Sprint's PCS Vision service will include an ESPN ringtones from Sports Center, Baseball Tonight, X Games, college sports and other programs Information on sports and films also will be available.
