Cricket Makes The Leap To Unlimited Bundled Services By Susan Rush March 16, 2004 news@2 direct For about fifty bucks a month, Leap Wireless International is now offering unlimited local, domestic long distance and text messaging to its customers, all without requiring a long-term contract. The unlimited service plan is available in all of Cricket's 39 U.S. markets. Cricket Unlimited runs $54.99 a month and offers customers an unlimited supply of anytime minutes for local, U.S. long distance (expect Alaska) and text messaging. The plan also includes voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, up to three free directory assistance calls per month. For customers who sign up for automatic bill pay services, the monthly rate for this plan drops to $49.99. The company also introduced its Cricket Multi-Value Plan geared toward families and small businesses. The plan gives users the ability to add up to three additional lines to a qualifying plan and get a $10 discount per month per line. "There is no doubt that many consumers are frustrated by the continued unpredictability of their wireless service. Between keeping track of minutes and trying to understand peak and off-peak hours, it's no wonder that many people are shocked when they get wireless bills that are much higher than they expected," Leap Chairman and CEO Harvey White said in a statement. "With Cricket Unlimited, we have once again stepped up to fill a void in the marketplace." The new plans build on a pledge made by Leap back in November to offer its customers "predictable and affordable" pricing. The campaign also pledged to deliver easy to understand monthly bills and promised not to pass on unnecessary costs to customers for, say, hiring high-profile celebrities to peddle its wares. Cricket's 39 markets span 20 states. Cricket Makes The Leap To Unlimited Bundled Services |

This is certainly an attractive package. I don't know how Cricket is in other parts of the country, but the service area is pretty limited here in the Triad area of NC.

I have a few friends in Knoxville, TN that have Cricket. From what I have heard it's "ok" there. The coverage area looks a little thin to me but I guess if you stick to that area it works well enough.

I never did like Cricket in this area because of the poor quality. Maybe it's improved since I last looked at it. The concept is great ! I never could understand what people were saying to me when they call on a Cricket phone.
