Default Sprint May Sell Wireless-Service Towers

Wow..........that's pretty dramatic IMO. They definatelly need some cash, reduce the 17.4 Billion worth of debt on the books. Reports claim their 6,000 cell sites are valued at $1.5 Billion.

What they need to do is sell some of that MMDS spectrum to Nextel.

What would be nice if Verizon in areas where they have a PCS license and no network; Sprint does have a network already built. Verizon can share the base station. Verizon does not like tower sharing with other competors much, just rental companies like crowncastle. It would give them more customers and help with roaming and most of all get the money they need to build their own network in many cities and some metros that they are not in like Medford, OR; and Lubbock and Abilene TX.

Is that why Sprint always co-locates with Nextel and AT&T instead of Verizon? I rarely if ever see any Sprint/Verizon co-lo's here in So. Cal.

You probably won't see any co-lo's with Verizon.
Verizon seems to stay away from tower sharing with competitors as much as possible "Next Sprint etc." from what I understand. "I don't know if Verizon has got burned in the past or not."
I know they will use towers that are from rental companies like crowncastle right now.

I think it would be a win win for both companies.

Sprint get revenue for rental and free roaming on Verizon's network.
Verizon and Sprint share base stations where Sprint has a network and Verizon does not.
Will it happen?? probably not.

Default Sprint May Sell Wireless-Service Towers

because it takes so long these days to build a tower
The PCS carriers have to share if they want a good network like the Cellular providers do.

I should say sometimes on their towers they will let someone like sprint share on a Verizon owned tower, rare to see the other way around, but it happens

"Verizon seems to stay away from tower sharing with competitors as much as possible "

That's a lot of the reason Verizon's coverage stinks up here.

Lol. I haven't seen Verizon build a tower since I've had Verizon service (Nov2001). I have not seen any new co-locates either. They need to get off the Verizon high horse...and get building.

I'd have to agree with you on that one, Edge Wireless is running circles around them here!

Default Sprint May Sell Wireless-Service Towers

If Verizon spends 1 billion dollars about every 90 days.
Now that all base stations are CDMA ready and only 1 billion for the next 2 years solely on EV-DO where is the rest going toooo???
new or improved Switching Centers??
More towers "Better Coverage"
More towers "New Coverage like Myrtle Beach"

More money to the companies that make wireless CDMA phones??

Or just lots of improvements to Mr. Strigl's Office???
