China Unicom announces Novermber subscriber figures. GSM subs total: 63.108 million GSM post-paid: 32.314 GSM pre-paid: 30.768 GSM increase over Oct: 0.779 GSM aggregate addition YTD: 9.643 CDMA subs total: 15.746 CDMA post-paid: 15.085 CDMA pre-paid: 0.661 CDMA increase over Oct: 1.096 CDMA aggregate addition YTD: 9.502 This was posted on Unicom's website. The thread title is just as intelellectually honest (or dishonest) as the claims that 3G Americas is making about GSM Outpacing CDMA in the US. Unicom's CDMA growth is much larger than their GSM growth on a percentage basis for the entire year, and recently the number of additional CDMA subscribers has been larger than the GSM subscribers added on a month to month basis. |

We have two choices: we either stop posting news articles because they are all worthless, or we treat this as a free forum and live and let others live as well.

My Usenet server is slow. There must be a GSM vs. CDMA debate going on. It could be AT&T's IP network slowing down as well |

Merry Christmas Bobolito, It is not the news that is worthless. The news is valuable. The worthless information comes from advocates of one technology or another when they par-se the actual facts to prove an unsupportable point. The data from Unicom is factual, but my statement about CDMA outpacing GSM in China was meant to humorouosly poke a few holes in the 3G Americas stories which state that GSM is about to dominate the wireless market in the Americas. Neither is true, and the evidence does not support a belief that either will be true in the near future. |

Just wanted to point out that I am merely an observer at this point, and I had nothing to do with this. Remember what they said about opinions.........and we are all entiltled to have our own!!
