Reuters Alltel to buy TDS cellular assets for $140 million Wednesday August 4, 9:06 am ET WASHINGTON, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Alltel Corp., (NYSE:AT - News) the leading U.S. rural telephone company, on Wednesday said it would buy certain wireless assets from subsidiaries of Telephone and Data Systems Inc. (AMEX:TDS - News) for about $140 million. The assets from United States Cellular Corp. (AMEX:USM - News), a subsidiary Telephone and Data Systems, and TDS Cellular include parternship stakes and wireless properties in nine markets. Alltel said it expected the deal to close by the end of the year. |

The Ohio and Florida markets sold were islands for U S Cellular. I know Florida was for sale for at least five years, just had to find the right buyer.
