New PRLs are scheduled to be release before the end of the month so be on the look out... I've seen some things that will change with this but so far only good news is for Lake Charles, LA. |

they have a terrible footprint there, they shouldnt have removed that AMPS coverage from AC, especially since half of it will be CDMA next year!

I'm sure there will be some more unannounced changes. No need to fret.

Hey Goodman, I don't think the coverage has actually changed here in MN. All the advertising is still the same, all the store signage hasn't changed, in fact it has been updated to show Cellcom's area in WI. I havent had a chance to get out into rural MN yet with the new PRL, But I'm sure any SIDs that were changed were mistakes. Besides, they have billboards up all over the metro area saying " call minnesota your home calling area ", it would be really tough to change that now.

thats true...the rest of my family does though........... also, when an evdo phone with a nice big display and xhtml is out for vzw, ill be really tempted to just pay for my own cell service, especially given that cingular for me requires no contract

Goodman, you heading up north of Grand Rapids again? I never get up that way past about Brainerd, but hopefully by then RCC will have some of its CDMA up and running. If not then you might be at an advantage having a TDMA handset. By the way, VZW's footprint isn't that bad in the state, they do cover the entire arrowhead of the state along with the metro area, though I do wish that they could aquire Cell 2000 of St. Cloud and get the 800 MHz B block for that area to. Or even getting Quest's coverage up there would have been nice, but Quest jumped into bed with Sprint, so I doubt that will ever happen.

Welp.. be ready for the PRLs to be loaded sometime tomorrow. The new maps look good, now we shall wait for the "data miners" to do their deed.

i was up past grand rapids about a month ago with both a tdma/gait phone and a cdma tri-mode phone... there was no cdma running besides the spcs in grand rapids. as for tdma, same crappy coverage, amps most of the time...i just wish vzws footprint would cover all of 35 and 94 they may pick up some pcs blocks, but those do no good in mn |

In many extended network areas the PRL will be changed from analog only to digital/analog. Mainly Oklahoma. and Michigan to the best of my recollection.

Are you sure about that GoodmanR. My uncle lives just about an hour or so outside of Grand Rapids, and he uses Verizon throughout Muskegon, MI and Grand Rapids, and all around U.S. 31. Just my 2 cents. Gamer

We are talking about Grand Rapids Minnesota. And Goodman, they did get PCS liscences from that Northcoast deal a while back that would allow them to cover I35 from the metro to Duluth, and south almost to Iowa. By the way all, I just updated my PRL, now at 50113 for AC with ERI.

yes we are talking about grand rapids minnesota. not michigan.. i didnt know about those northcoast liscenses.....do you think theyll build pcs out there? it would make sesne on the 35 corridor, but its so hard to cover rural, dense forest areas with pcs only |

I'm not holding my breath waiting for them to build there. Sprint already covers all of that and when RCC does their conversion, it will also be covered by 800 MHz CDMA, so it would be really redundant to build there. I think the main reason they got the liscences was to have more spectrom avalible here in the metro area if need be. But you never know, there could be crews building towers along I35 as I am typing this.
