Ok folks, I'm from the heart of the boondocks out here in SD, but I have a friend who called Verizon Customer Support and got free Express Network added on to his plan. Now I'm not sure whats going on here. Anyone know anything about this? [edit] nevermind, I just found the howard thread on it [/edit] |

All you need is the mobile office kit (software and cable). It only costs you airtime minutes. It sucks cause you only run at like 14.4k speeds, but it's better than nothing if your on the go with a laptop. The Express Network you pay for is better speeds.

I just talked with a Verizon Customer Service Rep. and he said their "Quick2net" (14.4) service will work in Verizon digital service areas. You are only billed for airtime at the same rate as you would be billed for a voice call. So for myself, I can surf all I want nights and weekends. During the day, my surfing time comes out of the 400 minute/month bucket. By the way, I really have a "poor mans" laptop setup. I'm using a Palm m-515, Verizon Audiovox CDM-9155 phone, a cable that interfaces the Palm to the phone from Gomadic (http://www.gomadic.com) and a browser on the Palm from ipanel (http://www.ipanelwireless.com). This little setup works great on the 14.4 data service. Sure a lot better than the WAP browser on the phone! No, I don't work for any of the companies mentioned. I'm just excited about how well my setup works for surfing the internet and checking e-mail and I didn't have to come up with a laptop computer. |

I've been using Mobile Office with my notebook PC and Samsung SCH-A310 with Snap Dialer software and a Radio Shack cable. I agree with you that for email this set up works great. WiFi is better, but it is not always available. Furthermore, if you need multiple WiFi subscriptions for access on the road, it can get a bit expensive. Denver airport has AT&TWS hot spots, LAX has Boingo, and DFW has T Mobile. If I subscribed to all these, even on a pay-as-you-go basis, I could easily spend $30/day as I travel. However, I can use Mobile Office at all of these airports. |

Yes Folks it IS true to a certain extent. There is a PPID (priceplan id) number of #47769 and that code can be attached to any Price plan you may be on. The description of the code was ""Perfect for the customer who wants to equally use their minutes for talk time and express network."" MEaning that it will use up your airtime minutes and if youre on an u/l n/w plan, then you can basically use it for free on the weekends and anytime after 9pm without incurring any airtime charges or data charges. Please dont abuse it to download MP3s and files, it would be nice to keep it for a while. Call CS and ask them to put it on your plan, if they say "ExNetwork cost blah blah a month" just keep pushing that you have a code that the Express Network Tech gave you and they will then put it on your plan.
