IT company Sprint Corp has struck a USD400m deal for IBM to provide Sprint with its IT development and support services. The agreement will see 1000 Sprint IT jobs switch to IBM with all of Sprint's software systems switching to IBM support in a move that the company estimates will save it USD1bn over two years. Over the past two years Sprint has cut 22,000 jobs. In February 2004 Sprint announced that it had signed a five year deal which saw IBM take over much of its customer service operations, reports The Associated Press. |
