| http://www.t-mobile.com/promos/camer...ame=3650bundle http://news.com.com/2100-1039-994434.html?tag=fd_top Basically, T-Mobile is selling the Nokia 3650 and allowing customers to record short audio or audio/video messages and send them to other people. The phone will cost $199 after rebate. T-Mobile will be the only company to offer the audio capability because "a deal with Nokia allowed T-Mobile to add special software to the device." |

Go T-Mobile. Now when they release that Smartphone this Summer, they'll kill the market. Of course my company, Alien Wireless will probably release it this Spring for sale. We already have one Smartphone on our site. |

I am sure they will kill Verizon and Sprint too. With this technology, T-Mobile will be the only ones offering video messaging. They are also the only ones that don't have a signal in this area. Very exclusive T-Mobile, very exclusive!

| Poor t-mobile... just because they have some hard-core fans bragging about things nobody else wants to show any excitement... Anyway. I think the video thing is very cool and it;s good to have companies around who push stuff like that! Just to make a point C. |

Yeah, Caliphoniaboy, boy, we knows good things when we see it, and what we see is the good things that T-Mobile is doing. They definitely have the best eye-catching phones and technology, and the service is great is most places, and expanding & improving daily where it's not so great. No matter how many people who hate T-Mobile, they are bringing in the customers almost by the millions per quarter, and other are losing hundred-thousands by the quarter, so in the end, T-Mobile will still stand, and whether you jump on the bandwagon now or later, you'll eventually join. |

yeah, but we also have the 7135. Im not trying to knock T-Mobile, I work for Verizon and am still going to get the 3650 with T-Mobile when it is in stores because of the video. Like I have said in a previous post, I do not like the cellular side of T-Mobile(my brothers phone rarely works off of major highways and he has the v205) but I love the inovation side of them.

Well, its more like a trade-off: you either get a good selection of very innovative gadgets or get reliable coverage wherever you go. Your choice. 3650? No thanks, I rather keep my Sony DV camera

I have both innovative gadgets, and the best service around, from T-Mobile.

Good for you! Best service around YOUR town. However, in both my house and my office you'll be lucky if you can pull a T-Mobile signal. T-Mobile is useless in this house unless you go outside or you come to the 3rd floor and stand by a window. My brother keeps complaining about this. I don't live in the boonies by the way! At my job, you have to literally go outside to get one bar. Two co-workers returned their new T-mobile V60's recently because of the lack of coverage where they needed it. Moral of the story is no carrier is perfect. It's cool that it works for you and all, but you have to admit that T-Mobile has dead/weak areas like any other carrier.

I wonder how much this video messaging service would cost, since sending them would consume a lot of bandwidth...... |

I believe the video messaging is billed as part of T-zones. They say (10) 10-second clips = 1MB I think, so that's the 2.99 T-Zones option. Might be cheaper to get 10MB for $10.

Matthew Broersma writes for ZDNet UK :Mobile phone network operators may be dreaming of a happy Christmas, in which they rack up premium fees for conveying multimedia messages (MMS) to a new crop of camera phones. But they are in for a rude awakening, according to consultancy 3G Lab. According to 3G Labs' usability studies, their guineapigs had trouble sending MMS messages from a range of camera phones because of confusing user interfaces. Network operators have been promoting such services as picture messaging, media messaging and photo messaging, but the phone menus use the term MMS, which is unfamiliar to consumers, 3G Labs said. MMS-enabled handsets currently on the UK market include Orange's SPV (Sound Pictures Video) (see a review of the SPV here), Sharp's GX10 and GX1 Nokia's 3510 and 7650, and Sony Ericsson's T68i and T300. Most include built-in or attachable cameras for taking and sending photos. All of the major mobile networks are promoting some form of MMS. 3G Lab noted that the carriers may have succeeded in getting across the idea of sending photos on a mobile phone, but that their branding did not extend to the phone's interface, leading to confusion. One tester said, "I don't know what MMS means. I've never heard of it before," according to 3G Lab. Another commented, "Multimedia, I haven't got a clue." Network providers hope that MMS will duplicate the success of text messaging, which has become a major revenue-earner. The networks have paid millions of pounds to buy 3G networks licences, but have still been unable to find an attractive form of data-based revenue other than text messaging. Another problem currently facing MMS uptake is network incompatibility. It is currently impossible to send a picture message from one network to another, although operators say they are working to improve the situation. What in the world is this author talking about. There are no problems with these phones sending MMS that I know of. I know alot of people in the UK, some customers, and some business partners and dealers. Also, cross-carrier MMS was just released 2 weeks ago, and from people I have talked to, it works. Orange is the first provider to offer this. |
