Default Sprint PCS coverage maps UPDATED!!!!

Well, from the look of things I would have to say that Sprint finally updated their coverage maps, or they are currently working on it. I noticed Arizona in particular, they finally filled in those areas surrounding Prescott and are showing more coverage on i40. Although they still don't show the Grand Canyon as being covered, hmm interesting, but I have use my phone in a lot of areas in AZ they still don't show being covered.

Yes Rich they did update the maps. I posted a message in the general forum about it earlier. The California maps have also been updated.

Service in the Grand Canyon???? Do any companies have any towers in the Grand Canyon?? I would think is being somewut of a nation park type thing, that the government wouldnt ALLOW carrier to put up towers in the area...

Towers are probably placed around the Grand Canyon where there are ranchers and other places people can stay. The signal probably spills into the canyon, but I doubt the whole thing is covered.

Default Sprint PCS coverage maps UPDATED!!!!

According to the general manager of Alamosa PCS (the Sprint affiliate that serves N. Arizona) there is currently no coverage at the Grand Canyon. But Rich reported having a signal there. I'm guessing that it's probably only one tower that serves the main village area. Most of the Canyon is probably not covered by anyone.

Roaming signal, perhaps?

My understanding is that ALLTEL (still) has an exclusive contract with the NPS to provide service in the Village...

Default Sprint PCS coverage maps UPDATED!!!!

Hey guys, hopefully I can clear up some of the confusion

Sprint PCS does have a tower at the village, I think it's disguised as a cactus, ironically enough. I even had service on hwy. 64 north from Williams. You can also check on the list of cities on Sprint web site, and you will see the Grand Canyon is on there. Verizon customers can't use this tower, I know I used to have Verizon.

Yeah I noticed that the Grand Canyon is listed on the web site. Maybe the tower was placed there by Sprint themselves rather than the affiliate.
