Microsoft To Share Windows Media Tech On Motorola Handsets Microsoft will integrate its Windows Media technologies on some of Motorola's music handsets. In a press release Monday, the software giant said the handsets will enable seamless connectivity to Microsoft Windows-based computers so users can sync music from their computers to their phones. The handsets will integrate the following Microsoft technologies: Windows Media Digital Rights Management, Windows Media Audio, Enhanced Windows Media Audio Pro codec and Media Transfer Protocol. The two companies also plan to offer handsets that are tailored to allow users to acquire music over an operator's 3G network. Microsoft said Motorola will ship the handsets worldwide in the second half of 2006, and the company sees support for over-the-air delivery and Windows Media Audio Pro in 2007. Motorola began shipping handsets with Microsoft technology in 2005. |
