Sprint to buy Nextel Partners for $28.50/shr: CNBC
Tuesday December 20, 12:18 pm ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S - News) is to buy its biggest affiliate Nextel Partners Inc. (NasdaqNM:NXTP - News) for $28.50 a share, according to a report on CNBC.

Nextel Partners shareholders have voted to sell the roughly 68 percent of the company Sprint Nextel does not already own.

The companies have been bickering for months about how Nextel Partners should be valued.

Cool everything is coming together now. Next up is Ubiquitel (their largest remaining affiliate who holds a large part of California coverage).

So how many billions has Sprint spent in acquisitions this year? It must be way over $50 Billion. The most expensive acquisition in history!

Well they got to do what they got to do. They might delay plans to buy Ubiquitel now I think.

If they do try to aquire Ubiquitel then I would love to see what the total cost of this merger turns out costing, it is amazing how much they are spending on this merger & I hope the sale of there wireline business brings enough in to cover the extra costs.
In the end I can see this working for Sprint/Nextel, but it is alot of money right now.
