NEW YORK, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Wireless service operator T-Mobile USA won a temporary restraining order barring its former chief operating officer from working for rival Amp'd Mobile, Amp'd said on Friday.

Sue Swenson, the former T-Mobile USA executive, joined Amp'd Mobile in October as its COO, but the restraining order issued from King County Superior court prevents her from working at the company until another hearing on Nov. 14.

"I think this action shows just how little the legacy (wireless) carriers understand what we're doing at Amp'd and just how different a high-speed target, content-rich MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) is from them," said Amp'd Mobile Chief Executive Peter Adderton said in a statement.

Amp'd Mobile, which rents capacity from Verizon Wireless's (VZ.N: Quote, Profile, Research) (VOD.L: Quote, Profile, Research) high-speed network, plans to launch a youth-targeted cell phone service at the end of this year, with unique music and video programming available on handsets.

T-Mobile USA is a division of Deutsche Telekom (DTEGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research)

I wonder why T-Mobile is so worried about this. Amp'd wouldn't reach their subscriber level and youths aren't exactly T-Mobile's main target audience.

Because she's probably 3rd in line to the CEO position and has proprietary financial and marketing information that TM doesn't want to get out. Like any other company. She probably signed a non-compete agreement too, so TM is looking to enforce it.

The laws vary from state to state.

Such an injunction would be much less likely in CA.
