Default Sprint: Updated EV-DO Soft & Hard Launch Areas

Chris Price of pcsintel.com says Sprint will have EVDO service officially and unofficially in over 60 cities by November 11th........

Taken from pcsintel's website:

While EV-DO launch dates are still subject to change, the soft launch for EV-DO is set for the 27th, followed by the hard launch (with high-profile marketing campaigns) will follow on November 11.

With that in mind, we can now divide the launch areas into two parts, the areas that will be available at the soft launch, and the areas that will follow at the hard launch.

EV-DO Soft Launch Markets
Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Chicago (partial), Cleveland, Columbus, Connecticut, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Denver, Des Moines, Detroit, Ft. Myers (all of Southwest Florida), Greensboro, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Orlando, Raleigh, Rio Grande Valley, Sacramento, San Antonio, Seattle/Tacoma, St. Louis, Tampa, Boise, Reno/Carson City/Lake Tahoe, St. Cloud, Grand Rapids

EV-DO Hard Launch Markets
Birmingham, Boston, Buffalo, Chattanooga, Chicago, Cincinnati, Honolulu, Jacksonville, Knoxville, Little Rock, Los Angeles, Louisville, Memphis, Nashville, New York City/New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Kingsport/Johnson City, Norfolk, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Richmond, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Tallahassee, Tulsa, Washington DC/Baltimore, Wichita

Will be interesting to see... I guess Sprint will launch many markets at once, compared to Verizon launching a few markets at a time. VZW hasn't officially launched anything for a while now...what are they getting ready for?

TOO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!! MWA HAHAHAHAH!!!!

No really...i think they might be doing something around december. I asked the local VZW store in the mall when they are getting EV here in Buffalo, and they said around the end of the year. Who knows is thats true though.

If VZW took over the world, we'd all have free mobile to mobile right? Haha.

Yeah. My business rep says VZW will have one more launch of expanded EVDO by years end too.

But it seems our market is always reactive, or defensive instead of proactive or offensive.

When one carrier launches something big or lowers its price, the others sometimes follow suit.

Unless I'm mistaken, didn't VZW say they'd have 150 million POPS covered by the end of 2005?

So far, we have 140 million POPS covered along with 84 cities and 426 airports.

Yes, I think that is correct, YourDaddy. There will for sure be some more EVDO areas launched soon(before year's end latest).
