Cingular Wireless Earns 'Most Reliable' Network Rating in Indianapolis
Friday October 14, 3:04 pm ET

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless, the nation's largest wireless carrier, received the top ranking of all wireless carriers in the Greater Indianapolis area, based on drive-test results from a leading wireless research company that provides information, insight and performance measurements for the wireless industry.

The test measured which carrier had the fewest number of dropped, blocked and incomplete calls. Cingular received the "Most Reliable" network rating in Indianapolis and the surrounding counties of Shelby, Johnson, Hancock, Hendricks, Boone, Hamilton and Morgan.

"We are proud to be recognized by an independent research company as having the most reliable network," said Brian Ducharme, Vice President, General Manager, Indiana/Michigan. "By the end of 2005, Cingular will have invested over $90 million in our network in Indiana. Already our investment is paying off as shown by the results of this test."

Nationwide, Cingular will spend more than $6.2 billion in network upgrades and expansion, giving customers access to more than 40,000 cell sites nationally, the most of any U.S. carrier.

In addition to comparative drive testing done by third-party companies, Cingular has several internal programs in place to measure the effectiveness of its network enhancements. Through these programs and other initiatives, Cingular will drive nearly 30 million miles to test its network -- the equivalent of 50 round trips to the moon.

The company provides coverage to more than 270 million people living and working in every one of the top 100 markets in the United States. Customers can also use most phones when traveling abroad in more than 170 countries.

This just proves that VZW is not the Nation's most reliable network. Verizon Wirelessicon network is overall the most reliable National Provider.

    GREAT JOB CINGULAR!!!

Uh Oh....I see lawsuit all over this one. I see Verizonicon getting all huffy over Cingular saying it has the "most reliable network"

I was thinking the same thing, but if an Independant company put this in there report, it could be something they can get away with saying, since Cingular isn't actually saying it. (depends on how the lawyers see it).
I am sure that Cingular just wanted to repeat this if it was in the report as a dig on Verizonicon's advertising.
I am sure it's going to get very interesting between the 2 on these claims, which until Cingular finishes the integration and continues to build out there network they will have a hard time saying this in more then a few locations.
What Cingular should be doing is going the route of T-Mobile & Sprint/Nextel & doing better plans vs copying Verizonicon's, Cingular is getting better but I do agree they have a way's to go to have a network like Verizons.

The "most reliable network" is not a registered trademark. Therefore, I don't see how Verizonicon can sue over a generic descriptive term such as that one.
