Bellsouth Sprint Nextel in business network deal

This is another shot in the arm to Qwest.

Bell South already uses Qwest for similar services, but Sprint's more robust network can offer more applications at higher speeds.

Anyways, it's seems a little weird that Sprint wants to pair with a telco as large as Bell South when in every other aspect they asprire to be "anti-telco," "pro-cable."

On the other hand, this deal will allow Bell South to serve areas as far away as Los Angeles with their own branded data network. Bell South in Los Angeles? Doesn't sound too far off. Sprint isn't a local telco here, but at work we still use a Sprint branded T-1 service as a backup to our Cox drop. Interesting.

Looks like Bell South will be competing for the business Verizon and SBC will be selling to its customers. I believe pretty soon, the three Big Bells will offer their services nationwide. Watch out!
